The earliest lip had no name or date: There were many different lips used on Creek Chub lures. The earliest lips were used from 1916 to 1918 did not carry the company name or the date on the lip. |

The second lip carried the company name, but no date: The second type 1918 - 1920 had the CCBCO, Garrett, Ind. stamped on the lip. |

Standard lip had both the name and patent date: After 1920 they used the standard lip which had their name and patent date stamped on the lip. Be carefull. Lips with patent dates 9-7-20 or 9-27-20 were mass produced and were used on many lures between 1920 and 1978. Many collectors are confused and think the patent date is the date of the lure in hand. To accuraely determine the lure age you may have to consider other things such as hook rigs, eyes and paint color. |

Reinforced Lip: In 1935 the reinforced lip became the standard lip for all of their larger lures. |

The Deep Diving Lip: In 1950 the Deep Diving Lip was first introduced. The line tie was part of the lip stamping. |

Latest standard lip: After 1970 this became the standard lip. The line tie is formed in the lip. This was easier to make and less expensive to produce. |
